Rotate PDF Pages one page or all
Every page of the document is drawn as a thumbnail. Turn the ones that came out sideways, then save a new file. The original is never modified and never leaves your device.
The Rotate PDF Pages tool turns pages by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, all of them or only the ones you pick, and saves the corrected file. Rotation is stored as a page setting, so the file size barely changes and the content is not re-encoded.
Open the PDF
The file is read in the browser tab. Ten pages or a hundred, the document stays on your machine.
Turn what is wrong
Use the arrows under a thumbnail for one page, or the button above the grid to turn every page the same way.
Save the copy
A new file is written with the rotations applied. The original stays exactly as it was.
What rotation is good for
| Situation | What to do | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Phone scan lying on its side | Turn every page 90° | Check page one first |
| Mixed preface and body | Turn single pages | Thumbnails show which |
| Landscape table in a portrait file | Turn that page only | The rest stays readable |
| Upside down signature page | Two turns of 90° | 180° in total |
| Already upright but mirrored | Not rotation | Rescan or use an editor |
Private by construction
No upload, no queue, no account. Confidential documents are the usual reason people need this.
You see every page
Thumbnails of the whole document, so a wrong turn is obvious before the file is saved.

Why Scanned PDFs Come Out Sideways
A rotated PDF is almost never broken. It is a document that recorded the orientation of the paper at the moment it was scanned, and that orientation was wrong. The scanner does not know which edge of the sheet is the top; it only knows which edge went in first. Add a phone camera to the story and the problem becomes routine: the picture was taken in portrait, the text runs across it, and the resulting page is a perfectly valid PDF lying on its side.
Orientation is a flag, not a picture
Inside a PDF every page carries a rotation value: zero, ninety, one hundred and eighty or two hundred and seventy degrees. Renderers apply that value when they draw the page, so a document whose contents are stored sideways can still look upright, and vice versa. Rotating properly means changing the flag rather than re-encoding the image, which is why the operation is instant, why the file size barely moves and why the text layer survives untouched. It also explains a common surprise: a page can be rotated twice — once in its contents and once by the flag — and look wrong in a reader that applies only one of the two.
Why re-scanning is the wrong answer
The obvious fix, going back to the scanner, costs an hour and can lose the page order, the bookmarks and the existing OCR layer. Rotating afterwards costs seconds and preserves everything. On a hundred-page contract, that difference decides whether the job gets done on a Friday afternoon or pushed to Monday.
When turning is not enough
Rotation cannot fix a page that was photographed at a slight angle, a shadow across the middle or a scan that was cut off at the edge. Those need cropping, contrast and a straightening pass, which is a different operation on the pixels. Likewise, a mirrored page — text that reads correctly in a mirror — is not a rotated page: reversing it takes an image editor, not an orientation flag. Recognising the difference early saves an afternoon of turning a page that will never look right.
Keeping the copy honest
Always write the result to a new file with a suffix rather than overwriting the original. The reason is not sentiment: if a page was turned the wrong way, the untouched source is the only way back. Name it clearly — contract-rotated.pdf, invoice-jan-fixed.pdf — and keep the source until the document has been checked page by page. It takes ten seconds and it has rescued more archives than any backup plan.
A note on privacy
Rotating a PDF is the kind of task people reach for an online service to do, and the kind of file people should not upload: signed contracts, medical records, payslips, identity documents. The operation needs no server; it needs a parser and a renderer, both of which a browser has. Doing it locally is faster, works offline, and leaves nothing behind — on your device or anybody else's.

fact_checkQuick facts
- Rotation is a page attribute, so rotating does not re-encode the content and the file size barely changes.
- A page scanned upside down is fixed with two rotations of 90 degrees, not by scanning it again.
- A PDF describes every element by its position on the page, which is why it looks identical everywhere and why its text does not reflow.menu_bookAdobe
- PDF 2.0 permits AES-256 encryption for the password that protects a document, while older files may use 40-bit RC4.menu_bookAdobe
- WebAssembly became a W3C Recommendation in 2019 and lets a page run a full encoder such as FFmpeg without a plugin.menu_bookW3C
